Republic of South Africa joins Investing for Peace Donor Advisory Committee

In a letter to Investing for Peace (I4P), the Director-General of South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Zane Dangor, accepted the invitation to join I4P’s Donor Advisory Committee.

“South Africa’s participation in the Investing for Peace Initiative aligns closely with our foreign policy priorities, particularly the promotion of peace, security and sustainable development on the continent and beyond. We believe that the mandate of the I4P — a strategic platform for mobilising and coordinating investment into conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconstruction and development on the continent — offers an important platform through which to advance integrated, development-oriented approaches to peace and stability.”Mr Zane Dangor, Director-General, DIRCO

South Africa is the fifth member of the DAC, joining the German Federal Foreign Office, the UN Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office (PBPSO), the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and the African Development Bank. The DAC provides non-binding advice to the I4P Foundation, appoints a minority of its Directors, and reviews and comments on I4P’s Annual Peace Impact Report.

“We are delighted, and honoured, that you accepted our invitation to join I4P’s Donor Advisory Committee. South Africa joining adds a second important African voice to the DAC and strengthens I4P’s commitment to address drivers of conflict on the continent through African-developed and African-backed approaches, underpinned by innovative partnerships between Governments, the United Nations, Development Finance Institutions, and Civil Society.”Pierre Van Hoeylandt, Chief Executive, I4P
