In early November 2023 Geneva Peace Week convened under the banner “Building Trust, Creating Peace: An Agenda for the Future”. Since its inception in 2008 the annual gathering has been a cornerstone for peace stakeholders, fostering dialogue, facilitating cross-sectoral interaction and deepening insight into the complexities of peace consolidation.
At the forefront of discussions, moderated by the German Federal Foreign Office and jointly hosted with Interpeace, was the topic “Peacebuilding and private finance actors: investing in partnerships that create peace”.
Central to those discussions was the Investing for Peace Initiative, a collaboration between Department S of the German Federal Foreign Office, the UN Peacebuilding Support Office and UNCDF. Emphasising the role of strategic investment in conflict-affected regions, I4P aims to channel resources towards initiatives that not only mitigate conflicts but actively contribute to their resolution.
