Germany and South Africa reaffirm support for Investing for Peace

At the 12th Meeting of the German–South African Bi-National Commission, held in Berlin on 13 April 2026, the two governments marked the 30th anniversary of their partnership by upgrading it to a Strategic Partnership.

In their joint press statement, Germany and South Africa “reaffirmed their support for the mobilisation of private capital for peace-positive investments in fragile contexts” and discussed establishing a regional secretariat for the Investing for Peace Initiative in South Africa.
